Stone wool substrate

Pargro is a natural stonewool product spun from melted diabase stone. By mimicking nature's production of Angel Hair during volcanic activity the Pargro stonewool manufacturer heats the rocks to 1600o c, to create lava. The lava is blown into a spinning chamber, which makes fibres similar to cotton candy. The fibres are packed into mats, from which Pargro cubes, blocks and slabs are cut. Pargro stonewool is a natural product - for your plants a natural alternative to soil. An alternative easy to use, provides a cleaner environement and above all gives you the best base for optimum production.

Grodan and Pargro mineral wool substrate are used in tomato cultivation and cultivation of other vegetables and flowers. Thanks to Grodan, our growers on over 120 ha modern greenhouses, supported by Hortico advisors, were able to minimize the water, fertilizers and energy intake. Mineral wool as a natural, non-organic product, obtained as a result of the melting of the mineral rocks, is a fully-ecological material that is both money-saving and non-invasive to the natural environment

The Pargro products was first developed in Finland during the late 80'ties. Many years of focused work resulted in an assortment with very competitive products and absolute top performance. Many growers discovered the advantages of Pargro during the early 90'ties and Pargro spread over especially Scandinavia, the Baltics and Canada.

As a part of organisational changes and "trimming" the company, Pargro was sold and aquired by Grodan A/S in 1997. Grodan A/S is the part of Rockwool International, marketing and selling rockwool products for vegetable production in greenhouses.

The 1st of July 1997 we commenced a new era, where market approach as well as assortment was further developed. We defined our target customers as professional growers, whom can make good and well-founded decisions in their day-to-day business. Our concept concentrates on three elements:

Today Pargro has a full assortment for production of vegetables. Our propagation and growing materials are produced according to very high quality standards. We continuously try to make the products as well as the presentation of the product even better. Finally, we have chosen to do only very basical technical support to our customers. This way we keep our organisation fit, which means we in most cases are able to offer our products at extremely favourable prices.
