Flowerpots and cultivation containers

In seedlings mass production multi-pots are used, most commonly of the 315x 525 cm size, containing 54, 60, 84, 160 separate pots. The first type of multi-pots is usually used for very early cabbage vegetables, tomatoes, peppers, eggplants or cucumbers. Of great significance are also the peat cubes (peat pots), which are formed from a moist substratum with the help of manual or electric pot machines. They are mostly recommended for lettuce seedlings production (pots of 4 cm diameter), because this way of preparation makes it easier to plant them. Lettuce seedlings grown in multi-pots are difficult to pull out without damaging the leaves (very often the leaves are in fact torn off).

Multi-pots cannot be placed on the ground directly, since the seedling roots could grow into the ground. Lack of proper isolation can lead to soil-induced infections and uneven development of the seedlings, which will extract nutrients directly from the ground. Let alone the fact, that after the seedling grows into the ground it cannot be pulled out without damaging the roots and very often the pots as well. Such a, quite a common, procedure puts under question the reason for using multi-pots. Their main advantage is first of all the possibility of stress-free seedlings production. While a significant damage done to the roots system, which takes place when the multi-pots which are grown into the ground are being pulled out, totally violates those rules.

During the seedlings production in multi-pots in the summer season, one more unfavorable aspect of the cultivation should be remembered, aspect induced by the small size of the multi-pots bottom. Apart from its dehydration, during very hot days overheating might occur, especially strong, when multi-pots are made of black-coloured material. To avoid this, seedlings have to be shadowed.

In the production of stenothermic vegetable seedlings (peppers, early tomatoes, eggplants, artichokes, early cucumbers, watermelons, melons) single plastic pots are often used with the 6-8 cm diameter. Cultivation in single pots enables earlier placement of seedlings, which prevents its growing out. Bigger size of the bottom than in the case of multi-pots allows also for a significant elongation of the time of seedlings cultivation, when they cannot be transplanted according to the scheduled time.

In our warehouse a wide choice of pots is available. We offer pots of the following companies: TEKU , ROTAX , JRK  and also MAKRIMPEX
